Ice-skating,Bok treble, and a Sky disaster.
Happy Monday everyone! 3 weeks to Christmas, and almost more importantly three and half weeks to Dublin!
I had quite a relaxing weekend, which started with some very subdued drinks after work on Friday. I discovered that a mate of mine from my Rhodes days is in London, and so I'm really chuffed that I'll get to see him again after 3 years. (Zimbo's are tough to track down.)
Saturday was really good as Rob had got tickets to go ice-skating at the natural history museum. I distinctly remember being a lot better on the ice than I was on saturday. I spent most of the hour long session slowly negotiating corners and avoiding little kids' fingers. Remembering the advice dished out to us as children, "when you fall make a fist so your fingers don't get cut off!". Now honestly, I've been ice-skating a few times over the years and I have never seen anyone come close to having there fingers cut off! Better advise is probably to put your hands out when you fall, as failing to do so results in you hitting your head on the ice. This was demonstrated by some poor guy on Saturday who while obviously trying not to let his fingers get hacked off, dropped his shoulder into the ice and managed to cut his eye open- ouch!
I watched the ashes until about 3:30am Sunday, before catching a kip, and when I got up to switch the cricket on I was confronted by a horrible site. "No satellite signal being received"
The night before we had some serious gale force winds and they had obviously knocked the dish out of place. A 45min call to Sky confirmed this and because we are 20 days out of warranty (Murphy's), it'll cost us £65 to get an engineer out on Thursday!!! So off to the Walkabout I went to catch the Proteas dish out some punishment to the Indians. Followed by a solid Bok win over a very average World XV. Note: If Francois Steyn can learn to keep those massive punts infield, he'll scare a lot of opposition in whatever position he plays.
Oh, and the bok 7's won the opening event in Dubai. Coming from behind against the Kiwi's, good work chaps!
So I start another week, counting the days to New Year.
P.S. My web start-up is starting to get built on Wednesday, expect to hear lots more on this topic in the future.
